Softball drops pair versus Adrian to close homestand
DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College Yellow Jackets dropped a pair of games Monday evening to Adrian College in a non-conference doubleheader,falling 4-1 and 13-4 in the two games.

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College Yellow Jackets dropped a pair of games Monday evening to Adrian College in a non-conference doubleheader,falling 4-1 and 13-4 in the two games.
The Yellow Jackets had the lead on both games, but was unable to avoid the big inning on defense as Adrian grabbed the leads to go on and defeat DC.
In game one, Makayla McAvoy had an RBI single that scored Maggie Neanen and put the Yellow Jackets up 1-0 in the bottom of the first.
Defiance held onto the lead into the fourth inning before Adrian tied it up with an unearned run on a throwing error.
In the next inning, Defiance relinquished the lead after giving up a bases-clearing double that scored three runs for the Bulldogs and gave them insurance runs en route ot the victory.
In game two, it was Adrian who struck first with two runs in the top of the first. However, Defiance answered with a three-run bottom half of the inning.
Macy Ferrall struck out swinging, but her hustle on a dropped third strike allowed her to reach first on an error by the first baseman, which in turn allowed Neanen to score from third. McAvoy then singled to left field, scoring Kali Campbell to tie the game at two.
The Yellow Jackets took the lead when Brittany Shough reached on a fielder's choice and Ferrall scored the go ahead run.
Defiance held the lead into the third inning, but Adrian's first of two big innings in game two saw the lead slip away for DC. Adrian used five hits and a Defiance error to score five runs in the top of the third and go up 7-3.
In the sixth, Adrian had an even bigger inning at DC's expense, scoring six runs to go up 13-3. The Yellow Jackets would score one in the bottom of the sixth, but it wouldn't be enough, falling by a final of 13-4.
The Yellow Jacket return to action Friday with a doubleheader at Hanover.
