Yellow Jackets fall in doubleheader to Anderson
ANDERSON, Ind. - The Defiance College Yellow Jacket Softball team fell behind early to Anderson in a pair of games and were unable to recover, falling to the Ravens 10-2 and 5-4 Saturday afternoon.

ANDERSON, Ind. - The Defiance College Yellow Jacket Softball team fell behind early to Anderson in a pair of games and were unable to recover, falling to the Ravens 10-2 and 5-4 Saturday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets quickly found themselves in a hole in game one on Saturday, after the Ravens scored seven runs in the first two innings. Anderson was able to capitalize on a Defiance error to score a pair of unearned runs in a four-run bottom of the first.
Anderson added three more runs in the second inning with a three-run home run. Defiance didn't get on the scoreboard until the fifth inning when the Yellow Jackets score two runs to extend the game.
Kailea Holbrook had the first RBI with a single to score Katie Haydett scored. Later on in the inning, Brittany Shough tripled to score pinch runner, Marisa Guyton, who came in for Holbrook after her hit.
Despite extending the game to the bottom of the fifth inning, Anderson reached the eight-run limit with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.
In game two, Defiance quickly fell behind again in the second inning when the Ravens scored four runs to take the lead.
Defiance slowly worked its way back into the game. First, Defiance got on the scoreboard with an RBI single by Shough singled, which scored Megan Pleskovic to cut the deficit to 4-1.
Later in the inning, Emily Denhard singled with the bases loaded to score Shough from third.
In the seventh inning, Megan Warren brought Defiance to within one run with a solo home run. Later in the seventh inning, Macy Ferrall tripled and scored Denhard, who had reached earlier in the inning, tying the game at four.
The two-run seventh pushed the game to extra innings, but Defiance was unable to score in the top of the eighth inning. Anderson capitalized and scored the winning run in the bottom half of the inning with a sacrifice fly.
The Yellow Jackets will look to rebound with a doubleheader against Manchester on Thursday. Defiance is set for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch on Wednesday.
