KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Defiance College Softball team split its doubleheader on Thursday to wrap up its Spring Break Trip at the Rebel Spring Games in Central Florida. The Yellow Jackets fell to Skidmore in the first game on the day, but rebounded with a victory over Marietta.
The Yellow Jackets struggled in game one and dropped the rematch contest against Skidmore in the early afternoon 3-2. Lauren Dicke picked up the loss in the three-run effort, falling to 1-2 on the season.
For the fourth straight scheduled doubleheader, the Yellow Jackets failed to generate enough offense to pick up a win in the opening game of the day. However, Defiance got the offense working and remained undefeated on the season in the second game of a double-header, improving to 3-0.
The Yellow Jackets worked open as much as a 4-run lead over Marietta and Allie Rowland picked up the win for the Yellow Jackets as DC pushed past the Pioneers 6-4. Rowland improves to 2-2 on the season.
Marietta jumped ahead 2-0 early on and held that lead until the Yellow Jackets broke open the game with five runs in the fourth inning.
Defiance will return to the home state of Ohio for its next games, a doubleheader in Tiffin at Heidelberg on Wednesday, March 19.
