Rain limits Yellow Jackets day to loss against Thomas More

In the lone game on the day, the Yellow Jackets (2-3) fell 8-3 to Thomas More (2-3). Defiance showed good plate discipline, drawing seven walks, but were limited to just one hit on the afternoon. DC also left six runners in scoring position.
Brittany Shough had the lone hit on the day for Defiance, going 1-for-4 at the plate. The junior also scored one of the Yellow Jackets three runs on the day, coming across home plate after a bases loaded walk by Macy Ferrall in the first.
Tori Plummer capitalized on a throwing error and a passed ball in the second inning to score another run for DC. Plummer reached on a walk and took third base after a error on a Maggie Neanen drag bunt. Plummer then scored on a heads up play, advancing home after a passed ball.
Defiance plated one more run in the seventh. Pinch runner Emily Denhard scored on a throwing error by Thomas More's shortstop. Denhard got on base after taking Ashley Gordon's spot following a walk.
While Defiance struggled to get the offense going, Thomas More collected 14 hits in the game. Defiance also had two fielding errors. Allie Rowland picked up the loss for the Yellow Jackets.
Defiance will wrap up the Rebel Spring games with a doubleheader against Skidmore and Marietta on Thursday. Game one is slated for a 1 p.m. start with game two set for 5:30 p.m. DC defeated Skidmore earlier in the week 9-1.
