Gasco Leads Thunder Past Yellow Jackets at Trine
ANGOLA, Ind. – The Yellow Jacket softball team headed to Trine University on Wednesday afternoon for a doubleheader. The Thunder imposed their will, as the Yellow Jackets lost both games of the two-game set by scores of 10-0 and 16-2.

Trine used a dominant performance from its ace and cleanup hitter Andi Gasco, who threw a complete game shutout in game one and went yard twice over the two games.
The fourth inning in game one and the third inning in game two were the demise of the Jackets, as DC gave up eight runs in the fourth in game one and 11 runs in the third in game two.
Defiance's only offense on the afternoon came in the top of the fourth inning during game two. Sophomore Maggie Neanen drew a leadoff walk followed by Aubrie Ridinger reaching safely on an error and a Jordan Sawmiller walk to load the bases with no outs. Sophomore Stephanie Esquibel singled for DC's first run of the afternoon. Junior Katie Miller then popped up to shortstop and Ridinger scored the second run of the inning.
The Purple and Gold is next in action on Saturday, March 31 against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Anderson University. Defiance enters the matchup with a 1-1 conference record while the Ravens sit atop the standings with a record of 2-0. Game one of the two game series is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
