Bowers Honored by HCAC as Pitcher of the Week

GREENWOOD, Ind. – DC's Shauna Bowers wrapped up her sophomore campaign by earning her first career HCAC Pitcher-of-the-Week award. Bowers received the accolade after posting a 2-0 record with a 0.50 earned run average in the Jackets' wins over Rose-Hulman and Manchester College last week.
Bowers earned her first complete-game shutout in DC's abbreviated 8-0 victory over Rose-Hulman on Tuesday, allowing just three hits and no walks on the day. In Saturday's extra-innings victory over Manchester, Bowers held the Spartans' offense to just one earned run through nine frames.
Bowers entered the season without any experience at the collegiate level, but established herself as a valuable contributor in the Yellow Jackets' rotation during her sophomore campaign. The Delphos, Ohio, native ends the season with six win under her belt, including four complete games, and a respectable 3.94 earned run average.
The softball team concluded its 2010 season on Saturday with an 18-18 overall record, and tied with Franklin College for sixth place in the conference with a 7-9 record.
