Yellow Jackets Split Doubleheader Against Albion
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Yellow Jackets split their doubleheader against Albion College on Saturday, March 20, beating the Britons, 6-4, in the first contest, before falling in the second game, 6-3. With the split, Defiance moves to 10-2 on the season.

Kelly Schnipke earned the win for DC in the first game, shaking off a rocky first inning in which the Britons registered two runs on four hits. Schnipke held Albion to just one run on four hits over the next four frames.
The third inning was the game-breaker for the Jackets, as they got back-to-back singles by Katelyn Samples and Aubrie Ridinger to start the inning. Tasha Stucke drove in DC's first run on a single that advanced Ridinger to third and brought Samples around to score. Stucke advanced to second base on the throw, and Marah Robinson smacked a two-run double to give Defiance the 3-2 lead. Brittany Gow brought Robinson in to score on a single to left-center field to finish the damage.
Albion cut DC's lead to one run in the fourth inning, but Katie Miller and Katelyn Samples would respond with one RBI apiece in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach. Shauna Bowers got the save, giving up one run on two hits in two innings pitched.
In the second contest, Albion got off to another good start, scoring two runs on five hits in the opening frame. Both teams would go on to score a run in the third inning, but the Britons recorded three runs in the fourth to put Defiance down, 6-1. The Yellow Jackets battled back, posting two runs in the fourth thanks to RBI's from Kaycee Butt and Katie Miller, but the inning ended with two runners left on base and the Britons went on to seal the victory.
The Yellow Jackets will travel to Angola, Ind., on Wednesday, March 24, for a doubleheader against Trine University. The first game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
