Bushman Earns HCAC Recognition

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Melanie Bushman helped lead Defiance to the top of the HCAC standings this week with a 4-0 mark and has been named the HCAC Hitter of the Week for the second time this season. The senior first baseman hit .500 at the plate with two doubles, one home run and six RBI.
Bushman went four-for-eight at the dish in DC's sweep of Franklin, tallying two doubles and driving in three runs in the series. She finished off the week going three-for-six at the plate with three RBI in a pair of Jacket victories over Hanover, including her eighth multi-RBI game of the year in the opening contest of the HCAC twinbill.
The Harrison, Ohio native is currently leading Defiance with a .348 batting average, while also topping the team with eight doubles, 25 RBI and a .412 on-base percentage.
Defiance (21-10) will be back in action tomorrow, April 21, when it hosts Alma College for a non-conference doubleheader. The Jackets have won eight of their last nine and will be looking for their fifth-straight victory.
