Reese and Smith pace cross country at Regionals
The Defiance men's and women's cross country teams competed in the NCAA DIII Great Lakes Regional Championships on Saturday with the men not qualifying for a team score and the women placing 37th.

The Course
- The event was held at the Blue River Memorial Park in Shelbyville, Ind.
- John Carroll placed first in the men's 8k while Hope won the women's 6k.
The Men's Race
- Sophomore John Reese placed 213th with a time of 29:03.6, a new personal best.
- The race was won by John Carroll's Alex Phillip with a time of 24:27.4.
The Women's Race
- Senior Katelyn Smith was the top finisher for Defiance with a new personal best time of 25:52.5, smashing her old best of 26:58.5. She placed 173rd in the race.
- Sophomore Sloane Livingston placed 243rd with a time of 28:21.1.
- Sophomore Hallie Webb ran a 31:39.1 to finish 262nd while freshman Ryan Lay finished behind her in 263rd with a time of 34:39.9.
- Junior Brianna Snider placed 266th with a time of 42:50.5.
- The race was won by Trine's Evie Bultemeyer in 21:16.2.
