DC Men's Cross Country Places Ninth at HCAC Championships
NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – The Defiance College men’s cross country team placed ninth out of nine teams at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday afternoon at Manchester University.
NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – The Defiance College men's cross country team placed ninth out of nine teams at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday afternoon at Manchester University.
The Yellow Jackets were led by junior Daren Gies (Plymouth), who ran an eight-kilometer time of 31:24.88 and finished 70th overall. Freshman Tyler Hines (Cincinnati/Northwest) followed Gies, placing in the 85th position with a time of 33:34.15. Sophomore Brandon Zartman (Paulding/Wayne Trace) finished 90th overall with a time of 34:47.29.
Rounding out the field for the Yellow Jackets was sophomore Aubree Griggs (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Smith Academy) and freshman Spencer Ross, who finished 92nd and 93rd, respectively, with times of 45:08.65 and 46:37.05.
DC will wrap up the cross country season with the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship on Saturday, Nov. 11 in Delaware, Ohio. The meet will be hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University and their eight-kilometer race will begin at 11 a.m.
