Men's Cross Country Places Seventh at HCAC Championships
RICHMOND, IND. -- The Defiance College men's cross country team placed seventh at the annual Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Earlham (Ind.) College in Richmond, Ind.
RICHMOND, IND. -- The Defiance College men's cross country team placed seventh at the annual Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Earlham (Ind.) College in Richmond, Ind.
The Yellow Jackets ended the event with 164 points to place seventh of 10 teams. Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology captured the team title with 20 points and Manchester (Ind.) University was second with 82 points. Hanover (Ind.) College rounded out the top-three schools with 103 points.
Individually for DC, sophomore Colin Krick (Hicksville/Antwerp Local) led the Yellow Jackets with an 8k time of 27:39.5 and placed 30th overall of 93 total runners. His time in the event ranks in the top-10 quickest marks all-time. In addition to Krick, sophomore Clayton Bruggeman (St. Henry) posted the second quickest time of the meet at 28:03.7 and sophomore Jacob Rindler (St. Henry) was third with a mark of 28:13.3. Freshmen duo Jaymes Cole (Vero Beach, Fla./Vero Beach) and Diego Sanchez (Kissimmee, Fla./Celebration) finished back-to-back to record the fourth and fifth fastest times of 29:15.7 and 29:18.5 respectively. Senior Andrew Senecal (North Baltimore) completed the course in a time of 29:28.7 and sophomore Zach Roush (Nashville, Ind./Brown County) rounded out the scoring marks for DC at 30:13.1.
Also competing for the Jackets was junior Sebastian Rue (Defiance/Ayersville) who ran a time of 30:26.2.
The Defiance men's cross country team will next travel to Mason for the 2014 NCAA Division III Regional Meet hosted by Wilmington College on Saturday, Nov. 15. The race will take place at the Golf Center at Kings Island with the start time set for 12:30 p.m.
