Defiance Puts 20 on Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its fall honorees for the Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC Team with Defiance placing 20 student-athletes on the list. The 20 award winners give DC five more than its 2009 total and seven more than 2008.

Defiance Places Eight on HCAC’s Fall Sportsmanship Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its Fall All-Sportsmanship Team on Thursday, with eight Yellow Jackets making the list. The award is part of the HCAC’s sportsmanship initiative.

DC Harriers End Season with 24th-Place Finish at Regionals

HOLLAND, Mich. – The men’s cross country team placed 24th out of 33 teams at the NCAA Div. III Great Lakes Regional Championship in Holland, Mich. on Saturday. DC’s runners averaged a time of 27:18.6 on the 8k course, marking a 1:42 improvement over last year’s regional championship performance.

Men’s Harriers Finish Fifth at HCAC Championship Meet

VERSAILLES, Ky. – The men’s cross country team earned 139 points on Saturday to place fifth at the HCAC Championships for the second-straight season. Manchester took top honors in the team results with 39 points, while Franklin’s Kevin Martin led all individuals with a time of 25:48.05 on the 8k course.

Perkins Leads Defiance at Oberlin College Regional Rumble

OBERLIN, Ohio – The men’s harriers recorded 724 points to place 26th out of 31 teams at the Oberlin College Regional Rumble on Saturday. Several runners posted their best times of the season for Defiance, led by Justin Perkins, who came in 61st overall with a season-best time of 26:23.7 on the 8k course.

Yellow Jackets Finish 32nd at the All-Ohio Championships

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The men’s cross country team squared off against the best runners in the state on Friday afternoon, and recorded 934 points for a 32nd place finish. Out of the 20 NCAA div. III schools that took part in the event, Defiance placed 17th with 444 total points.

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Defiance College cross country team was well represented in the latest press release published by the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, with Kaitlin Switzer and Hayden Krick each receiving the HCAC Runner-of-the-Week award.

Men’s Harriers Record a Perfect Six at the Bluffton Dual Meet

BLUFFTON, Ohio – The men’s cross country team posted the lowest possible score at the Bluffton Dual Meet on Friday, accounting for each of the top-three times at the race for a team score of six. Defiance also accounted for six of the top-ten finishers at the invitational.

Men’s Harriers Place Sixth at Penn State Behrend Invitational

ERIE, Pa. – The men’s cross country team placed sixth out of 22 teams at the Penn State Behrend Invitational on Saturday, despite competing without their top returning runner, Justin Perkins, who is could not make the trip due to a scheduling conflict.

Men’s Cross Country Places First at Yellow Jacket Open

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The men’s cross country team claimed the top-three individual spots at the Yellow Jacket Open on Saturday, recording 22 points as a team to finish first overall at home for the first time on record. Goshen College placed second with 33 total points.

Men’s Harriers Slotted Fifth in the HCAC Preseason Poll

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The men’s cross country team is ranked fifth in the conference according to the 2010 HCAC Preseason Poll, released by the league office on Monday. Defiance garnered 57 points in the poll, marking an 18-point improvement over last year’s count.
