Yellow Jackets Host the Defiance Invitational
DEFIANCE, OHIO - The Defiance College men's track team hosted the Defiance College Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the George M. Smart Center, welcoming 15 different teams.
DEFIANCE, OHIO - The Defiance College men's track team hosted the Defiance College Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the George M. Smart Center, welcoming 15 different teams.
The Yellow Jackets were led on the day by Javier Castillo and Cody Drumm-Turner.
The Defiance 4x200-meter relay team made up of Cody Drumm-Turner, Maruice Brewer, Gabriel Caris, and Terence Williams posted a strong finish on the track as they claimed the fourth spot with a time of 1:38.22.
Drumm-Turner also registered a strong finish in the 60-meter dash as he finished fifth overall with a time of 7.31 and captured a 10th place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.29.
Also in the 200-meter dash, Caris claimed the ninth spot with a time of 24.25.
In the field events, Castillo claimed a fifth place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 15.91 meters and took seventh place in the shot put with a distance of 13.73 meters.
Andrew Fahler also found success in the weight throw as he claimed a eighth place finish with a distance of 14.48 meters.
In the high jump, Vince Jackson led the way finishing sixth overall with a height of 1.85 meters, while Drumm-Turner took fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.24 meters.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Friday, February 1 as they travel to Oberlin.
