Yellow Jackets Open Season at the Mastodon Opener
FORT WAYNE, IND. - The Defiance College men's track and field team opened the 2018-19 indoor season on Saturday afternoon at the Mastodon Opener hosted by Purde Fort Wayne.
FORT WAYNE, IND. - The Defiance College men's track and field team opened the 2018-19 indoor season on Saturday afternoon at the Mastodon Opener hosted by Purde Fort Wayne.
The Purple and Gold finished fifth with the six team field with 3.50 points.
Defiance was led in the meet by senior Javier Castillo (Nogaleas, Ariz.) with a second place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 16.15 meters. Senior James Baranoski (Bloomingdale, Mich.) claimed a sixth place finish in the event with a toss of 13.48 meters.
Castillo also posted a strong finish in the shot put, finishing fifth iwth a distance of 13.27 meters.
Sophomore Vince Jackson (Mason) found success in the high jump as he grabbed a sixth place finish with a height of 1.88 meters.
The Purple and Gold return to action on Saturday, January 12 as they compete at the Northwest Ohio Invitational.
