Three Jackets Compete in All-Ohio Championships
WESTERVILLE, OHIO - The men's track and field team traveled with three athletes to Westerville, Ohio to compete in the All-Ohio Division III Championships hosted by Otterbein University.
WESTERVILLE, OHIO - The men's track and field team traveled with three athletes to Westerville, Ohio to compete in the All-Ohio Division III Championships hosted by Otterbein University. The Yellow Jackets finished 16th out of 18 teams with four points.
In the running events, freshman Quenell Rutledge (Deltona, Fla./Unviersity) competed in the 60-meter dash, finishing 11th overall. He crossed the finish line in 7.14 seconds.
Both junior Joshua Petro (Ocala, Fla./The Villages) and sophomore Javier Castillo (Nogales, Ariz./Nogales) led DC in the field events with both finishing in the top-10 in the weight throw. Petro took fifth place with best throw of 50' 10.75" and Castillo had a throw of 48' 10.00" that earned him ninth place.
In addition, Castillo took 12th place in the shot put following a distance of 43' 10.00".
The Jackets will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 18 to compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships hosted by Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
