Men's Track Places 13th at ONU Invitational
ADA, OHIO- The Defiance College men's track and field team competed in the Ohio Northern University Invitational in Ada, Ohio and placed 13th overall with 16 points.
ADA, OHIO- The Defiance College men's track and field team competed in the Ohio Northern University Invitational in Ada, Ohio and placed 13th overall with 16 points.
Freshman Quenell Rutledge (Deltona, Fla./University) took fourth overall in the 60-meter dash preliminaries in a time of 7.26 seconds to advance to the finals. Rutledge improved upon his preliminary time in the finals with a mark of 7.21 seconds and took third overall.
Sophomore Daren Gies (Plymouth) placed 19th overall in the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:57.65.
Senior Zach Roush (Nashville, Ind./Brown County) placed 12th in the 5000-meter run (17:55.67).
In the field events, sophomore Javier Castillo (Nogales, Ariz./Nogales) placed fifth in the shot put after posting a throw of 44' 07.50". The only other Jacket to place in shot put was senior teammate Nick Rath (Defiance), who took 18th following a throw of 39' 10.50".
Junior Joshua Petro (Ocala, Fla./The Villages) placed fifth in the weight throw event with a launch of 50' 02.75". Castillo was close behind in seventh place (48' 02.75").
The team will return to action next Friday (Feb. 10) when DC hosts the Dick Small Invitational at the George M. Smart Center. The meet will begin at 4 p.m.
