Men's Track Opens Season at Tiffin
TIFFIN, OHIO -- The men's track and field team opened their 2016-17 season at the unscored Tiffin University Invitational in Tiffin, Ohio.
TIFFIN, OHIO -- The men's track and field team opened their 2016-17 season at the unscored Tiffin University Invitational in Tiffin, Ohio.
In the finals of the field events, sophomore Javier Castillo (Nogales, Ariz.) led the way in the weight throw by finishing 10th with a throw of 48' 1.00", while junior Joshua Petro (Ocala, Fla./The Villages) finished 15th in the same event with a throw of 13.58 meters (44' 6.00").
Both also had the top overall distances in the shot put for DC and finished back-to-back with Castillo posting a distance of 42' 7.00" and Petro recording a mark of 42' 1.25".
The top finisher in running events was freshman Brandon Zartman (Paulding) who finished 20th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.50.
The men's track team will take some time off for Christmas break and will resume action on Friday, Jan. 13 with a trip to the Northwest Ohio Invitational hosted by the University of Findlay. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
