Defiance Competes at the Northwest Ohio Invitational
FINDLAY, OHIO – The Defiance College men’s track and field team traveled to Findlay University to compete in the unscored Northwest Ohio Invitational and had many Yellow Jackets give solid efforts.
FINDLAY, OHIO – The Defiance College men's track and field team traveled to Findlay University to compete in the unscored Northwest Ohio Invitational and had many Yellow Jackets give solid efforts.
Defiance was led by senior Troy Parrett (Cedarville) who finished ninth in the 200-meter run with a time of 24.41 seconds. Parrett then competed in the 500-meter run and finished second with a time of 1:06.12 which sets a new indoor record, smashing the previous record by over one second.
The men's four-by-400 meter relay team consisting of Parrett, senior Ryan Johnston (Defiance/Ayersville), sophomore Jacob Rindler (St. Henry) and sophomore John Seeley (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. / Sault Area) finished 11th with a time of 3:45.14.
In the field events, freshman Aaron Schwarzbek (Sherwood/Fairview) cleared the bar with a jump of 1.78 meters, finishing 10th, after narrowly missing all three attempts of 1.83 meters.
Sophomore LaVauntez Hall (East Cleveland/Shaw), after six attempts, jumped 5.96 meters, which allowed for a sixth-place finish.
The Purple and Gold will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 24 when they host the Defiance College Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
