Spinks Produces Record-Breaking Performance at All-Ohio
WESTERVILLE, OHIO – The Defiance College men’s track and field team competed in five events in the All-Ohio DIII Championships in Westerville at Otterbein University and finished ninth with a team score of 23 points.
WESTERVILLE, OHIO – The Defiance College men's track and field team competed in five events in the All-Ohio DIII Championships in Westerville at Otterbein University and finished ninth with a team score of 23 points.
Defiance was led by freshman Darius Spinks (Washington, Penn. /Washington) who broke two school records, one in the 200-meter dash and a second in long jump. After six attempts, Spinks jumped the distance of 23' 6.75" for a first-place finish. With his efforts in the 200-meter dash, he broke the record he just set a week ago in Ada. Spinks posted a time of 22.58 seconds for a fourth-place finish. He also competed in the 60-meter dash and finished runner-up with a time of 6.98 seconds.
The distance medley relay consisting of sophomore Jacob Rindler (St. Henry), senior Sebastian Rue (Defiance/Ayersville), senior Andrew Senecal (North Baltimore) and sophomore Colin Krick (Hicksville/Antwerp Local) finished ninth with a time of 10:54.68.
The final Yellow Jacket to compete for the day was senior Jacob Rodriguez (Ligonier, Ind. /West Noble). He finished the day with a tenth-place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 45" 4.50".
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 21 when they travel to Terre Haute, Ind. to compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
