Jackets Finish Fourth at HCAC Championships
TERRE HAUTE, IND. – The Defiance College men’s track and field team traveled to Terre Haute, Ind. to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology to compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships and finished fourth with a team score of 51.5 points.

The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman Darius Spinks (Washington. Pa./Washington) who earned the title of HCAC Champion in the 60-meter dash in a HCAC and school record time of 6.90 seconds. Spinks went on and finished second in the 200-meter dash (22.32 seconds) and third in the long jump event (22' 3.75").
Sophomore Jacob Rindler (St. Henry) finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.99.
The 4x400 relay team consisting of sophomore LaVauntez Hall (East Cleveland/Shaw), Rindler, Spinks and senior Sebastian Rue (Defiance/Ayersville) finished third with a time of 3:34.09.
The distance medley team consisting of senior Andrew Senecal (North Baltimore), sophomore John Seeley (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich./Sault Area), Rue and sophomore Clayton Bruggeman (St. Henry) posted a time of 11:11.20 for a fourth place finish.
Freshman Aaron Schwarzbek (Sherwood/Fairview) tied for fifth in the high jump event, after clearing the bar at 5' 10.75'.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 28 when they travel to Anderson, Ind. to compete in the Fred Wilt Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
