Defiance Competes At The Rose-Hulman Early Bird
TERRE HAUTE, IND. – The Defiance College men’s track and field team traveled to Terre Haute, Ind. to compete in the Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Early Bird Meet and finished fourth with a team score of 11.33 points.

The only first place finish for the Yellow Jackets came from freshman Aaron Schwarzbek (Sherwood/Fairview) who finished in a three-way tie for first in the high jump. Schwarzbek cleared the height of 6' 1.25", narrowly missing the mark set at 6' 3.25".
Other top-three finishes included freshman Darius Spinks (Washington, Pa. /Washington) who placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.06 seconds. Senior Jacob Rodriguez (Ligonier, Ind. /West Noble) finished third after launching the hammer a distance of 151' 5".
In addition, senior Sebastian Rue (Defiance/Ayersville) crossed the line at the 2:02.77 minute mark in the 800-meter run to finish fourth. Sophomore Jacob Rindler (St. Henry) finished the 1500 meter run in 4:11.99 to finish in fourth place. Freshman Shawn Deese (Canton, Mich. /Canton) threw the shot a distance of 41' 4.5" to finish fourth.
Rounding out the top-five efforts for the Yellow Jackets was the 4x400 relay team consisting of sophomore LaVauntez Hall (East Cleveland/Shaw), sophomore John Seeley (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. /Sault Area), Rindler and Rue who finished fifth with a time of 3:38.95.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Saturday, Mar. 28 when they host the Dick Small Invitational at the Justin F. Coressel Stadium. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
