Defiance Finishes Seventh At Ohio Northern
ADA, OHIO – The Defiance College men’s track and field team traveled to Ada, Ohio to compete at Ohio Northern University and finished seventh with a team score of 41.50 points.
ADA, OHIO – The Defiance College men's track and field team traveled to Ada, Ohio to compete at Ohio Northern University and finished seventh with a team score of 41.50 points.
Defiance was led by freshman Darius Spinks (Washington, Pa. /Washington) who had two first place finishes for the afternoon. Spinks finished with a time of 10.74 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 22.30 seconds in the 200-meter dash. Spinks also competed in the long jump and finished second with a 22' 00.75" leap.
Freshman Aaron Schwarzbek (Sherwood/Fairview) crossed the line in 59.34 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles to take home a sixth place finish. Schwarzbek competed in the 110-meter hurdles and crossed the line seventh with a time of 16.38 seconds. Schwarzbek's final event of the day was the high jump, where he finished 13th with a height of 5' 8".
Sophomore Jacob Rindler (St. Henry) finished the 1,500 meter run in a time of 4:16.07, which was good for seventh place. Fellow Yellow Jacket sophomore Clayton Bruggeman (St. Henry) followed close behind Rindler, crossing the line at the 4:24.97 minute mark.
Competing in the field events, freshman LaVauntez Hall (East Cleveland/Shaw) leapt the distance of 20' 00.50' in the long jump to finish in eighth place. Senior Jacob Rodriguez (Ligonier, Ind. /West Noble) launched the hammer 159' 3" to finish in tenth place.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Friday, Apr. 24 when they travel to Lexington, Ky. for the first day of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
