Career records fall at the Joe Banks Invitational

DC saw several athletes finish inside the top eight along with a few first place finishes in the Joe Banks Invitational hosted by Ohio Northern University.
Joe Davis (Ontario, Ohio / Ontario) had a big day in the mile for DC. He beat his own career best along with breaking his own school record in the one mile run. With a time of 4:22.06 seconds, Davis picked up the win by more than six seconds over the second place finisher.
The men also saw a first place finish when Madison Murphy (Westerville, Ohio / Thomas Washington) won the 800-meter dash. He won the event with a time of 2:00.66.
Continuing the success on the track for the men was Cody Wilson (McComb, Ohio / McComb) who placed fourth in the 500-meter dash. He was able to cross the line at 1:10.11, narrowly beating the fifth place finisher by .03 seconds. With the time, Wilson set his career best.
Another career best came in the 3,000-meter run. Josh Hilton (Antwerp, Ohio / Antwerp) finished seventh with a time of 9:12.64 on his way to setting his new personal best.
Troy Parrett (Cedarville, Ohio / Cedarville) rounded out the success by DC on the track. In the 1,000-meter run, he finished with a time of 2:39.02 to secure a fifth place finish.
Anthony Nolfi (Akron, Ohio / Ravenna Southeast) continued to pace the Yellow Jackets in the field. For the second straight weekend, Nolfi set a career best in the weight throw. With a distance of 16.20 meters he finished in second place.
Also in the weight throw, Luiyi Nunez (North Brunswick, N.J. / North Brunswick Township) threw for a distance of 14.68 and finished in fifth place.
The Yellow Jackets will compete again on Valentine's Day, February 14, in their home meet, The Defiance Open. Start time is slated for 4 p.m.
