Men finish 5th in HCAC Championships
Anderson, Ind. – The Yellow Jackets put together a nice showing in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. The men were able to finish with 61.50 points to finish in fifth place.

DC was able to claim a trio of Individual HCAC Indoor Championships at the meet as well.
Joe Davis (Ontario, Ohio / Ontario) was one of those individuals for the Yellow Jackets. He was named HCAC Indoor Champion in the one mile race, finishing with a time of 4:21. He also finished second on the 3,000-meter race with a time of 9:01.26.
In the throws, Anthony Nolfi (Akron, Ohio / Ravenna Southeast) also captured a championship. Even though he was ranked second in the weight throw coming in, Nolfi left the meet the winner. With a throw of 15.92 meters, Nolfi threw for the farthest distance and also claimed 10 points for the Yellow Jackets. Luiyi Nunez (North Brunswick, N.J. / North Brunswick Township) also had a strong showing in the weight throw finishing in fifth place with a distance of 15.13 meters.
Troy Parrett (Cedarville, Ohio / Cedarville) was the third of the trio to claim a HCAC Indoor Championship. Parrett claimed the 800-meter dash title for the second straight year and just one week after winning the All-Ohio Championships. He finished with a time of 1:56.53, nearly a second faster than the runner-up.
The Distance-Medley Relay team of Madison Murphy (Westerville, Ohio / Thomas Washington), Ryan Johnston (Defiance, Ohio / Ayersville), Jacob Rindler (St. Henry, Ohio / St. Henry), and Parrett broke a school record at the meet. With a time of 10:40.26, the relay team finished in fourth place.
Parrett also saw success in the 4x400-meter relay. He teamed up with Johnston, Murphy, and Davis in this relay and finished in second place. They nearly missed first place finishing just .1 second behind the winner. The relay team finished with a time of 3:25.77.
Continuing the relay success for the Yellow Jackets were Johnston, George Roth (Defiance, Ohio / Ayersville), John Seeley (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. / Sault Area), and Aaron Kersten (Linden, Mich. / Linden) in the 4x200-meter relay. They set a new school record with a time of 1.35.53. The time was good enough for a sixth place finish.
Josh Hilton (Antwerp, Ohio / Antwerp) rounded out the scoring for DC. In the 5,000-meter race he captured a sixth place finish with a time of 16:14.86.
The men will be back in action on Saturday, March 1. They will travel back to Anderson, Ind. for the Fred Wilt Invitational.
