Yellow Jackets finish third in Early Bird Invitational
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The men’s track and field team starts off the outdoor season strong, with a third place finish at the Rose-Hulman Early Bird Invitational.
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The men's track and field team starts off the outdoor season strong, with a third place finish at the Rose-Hulman Early Bird Invitational.
The men finished with 71 points to obtain the third place finish. DC saw a few victories from its athletes along the way.
Anthony Nolfi (Akron, Ohio / Ravenna Southeast) saw success in the field for DC. He won the hammer throw with a distance of 47.90 meters. The throw was over three meters better than the runner-up in the event.
Ryan Johnston (Defiance, Ohio / Ayersville), Madison Murphy (Westerville, Ohio / Thomas Washington), Joe Davis (Ontario, Ohio / Ontario), and Troy Parrett (Cedarville, Ohio / Cedarville) led the way for the Yellow Jackets on the track. The four runners picked up the victory in the 4x400-meter relay race. They finished with a time of 3:24.32, nearly three seconds ahead of the second place team.
Parrett also picked up a victory in the 800-meter dash. He win the event with a 1:57.81. The time beat the second place runner by .17 seconds, which was posted by Davis.
Davis also saw success in the 1,500-meter run. He won the event, making it two for the day. He finished with a time of 4:01.64, two seconds faster than the runner-up.
Completing the top three successes for the Yellow Jackets, Johnston picked up a third place finish in the 400-meter dash. He posted a time of 52.91 for the three spot.
DC will be back in action on Saturday, March 29 when they host the Dick Small Invitational.
