Yellow Jackets hold their own in Huntington Invitational

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The DC Track and Field Teams traveled to Huntington, Ind. today to compete in the Huntington University Invitational.
In a meet that had several NAIA schools, DC had several athletes compete at the high level. Eight different athletes finished in the top three in at least one of their events.
Freshman Micah Wilson (Mims, Fla. / Astronaut) proved once again that she can compete in any meet that the Yellow Jackets compete in. She won the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. She won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.54. In the 200-meter dash, she won with a time of 25.59.
In the field, Anthony Nolfi (Akron, Ohio / Ravenna Southeast) had a very good showing in the throwing events. He placed third in the discus throw with a distance of 40.45 meters. He trumped that performance by winning the hammer throw. He threw for a distance of 47.22 meters, more than two meters more than the runner-up.
Staying with the throws, Sam Cook (Raiford, Fla. / Bradford County) had a third place finish in the shot put. She achieved her third place finish in the shot with a distance of 11.23 meters.
In the javelin throw, Kali George (East Palestine, Ohio / East Palestine) and Colby Heeter (Bloomsburg, Pa. / Bloomsburg) finished first and second, respectively. George threw for a distance of 34.82 meters and Heeter a distance of 33.12 meters to take the top two spots.
George also placed inside the top three in the high jump. She jumped a height of 1.57 meters to take second place.
Also in the field, Ryan Johnston (Defiance, Ohio / Ayersville) placed third in the pole vault. He cleared a height of 3.80 meters for the three spot.
Eme Miller (Portland, Ind. / Jay County) placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:43.79.
Also finishing in second was Brooke Lime (Defiance, Ohio / Defiance). She took second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.46.
The track and field teams will be back in action next Saturday at the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships beginning at noon.
