DC wraps up day one of HCAC Championships

Joe Davis (Ontario, Ohio / Ontario) saw the best finish during the first day for the Yellow Jackets. He finished in fourth place for DC in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:53.50.
In the other track event that claimed points for the Yellow Jackets, Josh Hilton (Antwerp, Ohio / Antwerp) finished with a 33:45.65 in the 10,000-meter run. With the time, Hilton finished in sixth place.
DC gained the rest of its points in the field thanks to Ryan Johnston (Defiance, Ohio / Ayersville), Luiyi Nunez (North Brunswick, N.J. / North Brunswick Township), and Anthony Nolfi (Akron, Ohio / Ravenna Southeast).
In the pole vault, Johnston finished in sixth place for the team. He cleared a height of 3.98 meters to finish in the six spot.
Also finishing for sixth in his event was Nunez. In the shot put, he threw for a distance of 13.89 meters to secure the three points for DC.
Rounding out the scoring on the day for the Yellow Jackets was Nolfi in the javelin throw. His heave of 41.72 meters claimed the seventh place finish.
Back on the track, Troy Parrett (Cedarville, Ohio / Cedarville) and Jacob Rindler (St. Henry, Ohio / St. Henry) set themselves up for points tomorrow. Both runners secured a trip to the finals in the 800-meter run. Rindler qualified in seventh place despite having the third best time in the event. The top two finishers from each of the three heats automatically make up the top six spots. Rindler ran a time of 1:59.92. Parrett set himself up to defend his HCAC Outdoor 800-meter run title. He had the fastest qualifying time with a 1:58.12.
The Yellow Jackets will start things back up at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning at Coressel Stadium.
