Postema put on a stellar performance for the crowd at the championships. He claimed the title in each of the hammer throw, shot put and discus events. His best outing came in the hammer, where the Tinora High product hurled a mark of 65.80 meters to obliterate the old HCAC record by six meters and best his own DC record that he set earlier on in the season. The moonshot was the third longest recorded toss in National Collegiate Athletic Association Div. III history. This amazing mark was so impressive that the senior would sit 11th on the current NCAA Div. I qualifying list, third in Div. II and also hit the B standard qualifying mark for the United States Olympic Trials.
In his other two events, the Defiance, Ohio, native dominated just as much. Postema went on to set another conference record in the discus with a heave of 56.27 meters and garnered first-place honors in the shot put with a distance of 15.65 m.
Along with bolstering his hold on the top Division III ranking in the hammer throw, Postema climbed to second in the nation for the discus and sixth in the shot put. The senior will join a select few of Jackets to continue on with their season over the rest of May. DC's next competition it will be taking part in will be the Hillsdale Classic on Wednesday, May 8. Action at the meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
