Postema Wraps Up Preparation for Nationals Tuesday
DELAWARE, Ohio – In his last meet before the National Collegiate Athletic Association National Championships, senior Tom Postema threw in the shot put and discus Tuesday, May 14 at the Ron Altoff Invitational.

The Defiance, Ohio, native's best showing came in the shot put, where he placed second by .04 meters with a toss of 16.15m. Postema was then solid in the discus, hurling a distance of 48.40m that earned him third place at the competition.
With the conclusion of his regular season per say, Postema currently sits first (hammer throw – 65.80m), second (discus – 56.27m) and tenth (shot put – 17.04m) in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Rankings heading into the national championships scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend. All three of his marks recorded this season stand as the new records at Defiance.
The final scheduled competition for the DC men's track and field team is this Friday, May 17. Sophomore runner Troy Parrett will be running in the 800-meter event at the Gregory Final Qualifier and will be racing to secure his spot in the USTFCCCA Top-20 and clinch a birth to nationals. Parrett is slated to run at 7 p.m.
