Yellow Jackets Men’s Track and Field Finishes 10th at Nationals
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Purple and Gold men’s track and field squad wrapped up its National Collegiate Athletic Association Div. III National Championship weekend Saturday, May 25, as senior Tom Postema took action in the shot put. He finished 16th overall in the event and earned the team 18 points over the competition to grab 10th place.

Postema recorded a distance of 15.93 meters for 16th place in the event. The Defiance, Ohio, native had himself an outstanding weekend, as he came through with second in the discus (54.43m – 8 pts.) and a first in Yellow Jacket history with the top mark in the hammer throw (64.67m – 10 pts.). He totaled 18 points and placed DC 10th overall, which was the best by both an individual and team scoring in school history.
The 2013 campaign was an unforgettable one for Postema, as the senior thrower grabbed about every possible accolade in the season. The Tinora High product concluded his DC career as the record holder in each of the hammer, discus and shot put. He holds multiple honors including All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, All-Ohio and All-American in both indoor and outdoor track and field competition and will depart the Purple and Gold track and field program as one of its best athletes of all-time.
