Yellow Jacket Men Shine in Weekend Action
ADA, Ohio – The Defiance College men’s track and field team competed at the Joe Banks Invitational at Ohio Northern University. The Yellow Jackets turned in some impressive performances on their way to a fourth place finish, totaling 115 points.

Tom Postema, the defending two-time Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the week turned in another dazzling performance on Saturday in the shot put event. The junior threw for a distance of 54-05.50, which broke his own DC record of 52-08.25. The mark also moves Postema into fifth place in the nation for all of NCAA DIII athletes for the event.
Postema also won the weight throw event, throwing for a distance of 54-08.25. The Defiance, Ohio native is currently ranked first in the HCAC for shot put and weight throw and in the top 10 in the nation for both as well.
Hayden Krick also had a winning performance on the day for the Purple and Gold, as the junior won the one-mile run event with a time of 4:28.25. The mark currently ranks Krick in fourth place in the HCAC.
In the 800-meter dash, the duo of Joe Davis and Troy Parrett finished with notable performances. Davis finished in second with a time of 2:00.30 with Parrett just behind in fourth with a time of 2:00.54. The times currently place Davis in fourth place in the HCAC and Parrett in sixth. With Saturday's times, the two are third and fourth in DC history for the event.
Another Defiance athlete that moved up in the history book was Dan Hardin-Wallace in the pole vault event. The junior cleared a height of 14-11.00, which moved Hardin-Wallace up to third all-time in DC history. The mark also solidifies his second place rank in the HCAC.
In addition this weekend, Davis and senior Justin Perkins competed in the mile at Trine University on Friday evening. Davis won the event by posting a time of 4:28.17, the fastest of any DC athlete in the event to date. Perkins finished third with a time of 4:30.68.
The Yellow Jackets are back on the track on Saturday, February 11, when they compete in the All-Ohio Championships. The invite is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
