Fraley, Postema Earn Wins For Men’s Track and Field
N. MANCHESTER, Ind. – Senior Aaron Fraley won the 3,000-meter steeplechase and junior Tom Postema won the discus and hammer throw as the men’s track and field team competed at the Spartan Invitational on Saturday.

Fraley won the steeplechase with a time of 9:53.56 to beat his nearest competitor by 30 seconds. Postema claimed the discus with a throw of 49.15 meters, and won the hammer throw with a mark of 54.25 meters. Postema's mark in the discus set a new Defiance College record in the outdoor discus.
Defiance received second-place finishes from Hayden Krick in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:05.14 and Clayvon Finch in the 110-meter hurdles. Finch ran a race time of 15.83, and added a fifth-place in the 100-meter dash with a final time of 11.68. Joe Davis' time of 4:06.41 took third place in the 1500-meter run, while Dylan Waggy and Ryan Johnston tied for a third-place result in the pole vault with a mark of 3.86 meters.
Josh Beaerson finished fourth in the discus by using a throw of 39.46 meters. Justin Perkins was fifth in the 1500-meter run at 4:08.55 and Troy Parrett was sixth in the event at 4:09.17. The team of Davis, Parrett, Johnston and Madison Murphey were third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:28.02.
Jacob Arnold took fifth in the hammer throw (39.94 meters), while Ben Schwarzman was sixth in the high jump at 1.74 meters.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Friday, April 27 when they travel to Franklin, Indiana to take part in the opening day of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The meet will begin at 3:00 pm.
