Men’s Track and Field Places Third at Hoosier-Buckeye Meet
Terre Haute, Ind. – The Defiance College men’s track and field team competed in the Hoosier-Buckeye Meet on Saturday, February 20, which consisted of the nine schools from the HCAC. The team placed third in the meet with 86.50 points, trailing only Rose-Hulman and Franklin in the standings.

DC was led by the pole vaulters, who dominated the meet, posting the top three performances on the day. DC's Tyler Anderson and Austin Trivett tied for first with a height of 14-06.00, which marks the third-best performance in school history. Dan Hardin-Wallace cleared a height of 14-00.00 to claim third-place at the meet and tie for fourth on DC's all-time top performances list.
The DC jumpers had one of their best showings of the season, lead by Austin Trivett's 6-04.00 high jump, which took fourth-place at the meet. Jeter Thavez worked his way onto DC's top-ten performances list with a clearance of 6-02.00 in the event.
In sprints, Ryan Perry took second-place in the 55 meter dash, crossing the line in 6.60 seconds, while Austin Trivett placed third in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.24. Dan Hardin-Wallace posted a DC top-ten performance in the 200 meter dash, finishing the race in 24.02 seconds.
Freshman runner Aaron Demecs continued his strong season with a first-place finish in the 400 meter dash, crossing the line in 50.37. The time was one one-hundredth of a second off of his school-record pace that he set on February 13.
Seth Bidlack won the 800 meter dash, posting a time of 2:01.88, while freshman runner Aaron Bronson took fifth-place in the meet, coming in at 2:03.61.
The relay teams had good showing as well, headlined by the 4x400 relay squad of Seth Bidlack, Aaron Bronson, Issac Wilkins and Aaron Demecs, which placed second in the meet with a time of 3:32.45, making it the third-fastest time in school history. In the 4x200 meter relay, Brian Badenhop, Josh Herron, Brian Downs and Dan Hardin-Wallace came in at 1:36.12 to place second at the meet and sixth all-time at DC.
Hayden Krick led the distance athletes, completing the 5,000 meter run in 16:19.19 to take ninth-place at the meet and post the second fastest time in DC history for the event.
The track and field team will resume competition on Saturday, February 27, when they run at the Fred Wilt Memorial Invitational. The meet is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
