Krick Leads DC to Eighth Place Finish at Fred Wilt Memorial
ANDERSON, Ind. – The Defiance College men’s indoor track and field team finished eighth out of 16 teams at the Fred Wilt Memorial Meet in Anderson, Ind., on Saturday. Hayden Krick led the way for the Jackets with a school record performance in the one mile run.

Krick's performance in the one mile run (4:27.18) was nearly 15 second faster than his previous personal record, and 5.82 seconds faster than the old DC record. The event saw several other DC athletes work their way onto the school's top-ten performances list as Aaron Fraley, Seth Bidlack and Aaron Bronson earned fifth, eighth and ninth place rankings on the list respectively.
Jeter Thavez performed well in the high jump, clearing just over six feet for a fourth place finish at the meet. In the long jump, Austin Trivett and Dan Hardin-Wallace made strong showings for the Jackets, placing seventh and 14th place respectively at the meet.
Trivett and Tyler Anderson claimed two of the top-three spots in pole vaults with clearances of 14-11.13 and 14-05.22. Trivett's height of 14-05.22 was less than an inch off of his personal best.
DC track athletes will have one more opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Div. III National Championships on March 12, when they compete in the Mount Union Last Chance Meet in Alliance, Ohio, on Saturday, March 6. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
