Perkins, Trivett Lead Men’s Track at Adrian Invitational
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Defiance College men’s track and field team participated in the Adrian College All-American Invitational on Saturday, April 10. Justin Perkins, Jake Heiliger, Thavez Jeter and Austin Trivett all posted personal-records in the meet, which did not record team results.

Justin Perkins came in third in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:56.41. The time marks a nine second improvement over his previous season-best, and keeps the sophomore runner in second place in the HCAC this season.
The pole vautlers performed well, led by Austin Trivett who cleared 14-05.00 to come within a quarter inch of his personal-record. Jake Heiliger cleared a personal-record height of 12-06.00 to take ninth place at the meet and ninth in the HCAC standings. Trivett continued his outstanding day with a 6.33 meter long jump, which places second in the conference this season.
Thavez Jeter jumped into the fourth-place spot in the HCAC's triple jump standings with a leap of 12.11 meters, which was good enough for fifth place at the meet.
The track and field team returns to action on Saturday, April 17, when they travel to Delaware, Ohio, to compete in the All-Ohio Championships. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
