Demecs Breaks School Record at Billy Hayes Invitational
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A handful of Defiance College track and field athletes got a chance to test out Indiana University’s new track surface at the Billy Hayes Invitational on Friday, May 7. Aaron Demecs approved of the new surface, as he posted a school-record time of 49.51 in the 400-meter dash.

Demecs' time ranks second in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference this season, behind Manchester's Korey Bucher, who finished in 48.62 at the meet. Demecs also teamed up with Seth Bidlack, Aaron Bronson and Josh Herron on the 1,600-meter relay team, which finished tenth at the meet with a time of 3:33.91.
Justin Perkins continued his success in the 3,000 meter steeplechase this season with a seventh-place finish in the meet, crossing the line in 9:39.76.
Next on the Defiance College track and field schedule is the Dr. Keeler Invitational in Naperville, Ill. The two-day meet is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 13.
