DC Track and Field Opens 2009 at Findlay Classic
FINDLAY, Ohio – The Defiance College men’s and women’s track and field team competed in the opening day of the Findlay Classic on Friday, January 30. The Jackets had 13 athletes compete in the six events completed.
FINDLAY, Ohio – The Defiance College men's and women's track and field team competed in the opening day of the Findlay Classic on Friday, January 30. The Jackets had 13 athletes compete in the six events completed.
The men's distance medley relay of Andrew Baker, Seth Bidlack, Aaron Fraley and Justin Perkins finished sixth with the third-best time in school history, 11:25.42. Nic Neihaus led a trio of Jackets in the men's weight throw with a toss of 38-09.75, while Danny Rodriguez and Josh Beaverson recorded marks of 36-05.00 and 34-07.75 respectively.
Courtney Lantz recorded a personal-best mark in the women's pole vault for the second consecutive meet, clearing 8-08.25. The Jackets had five individuals participate in the women's weight throw, led by junior Samantha Higdon's season-best throw of 44-06.75. Amanda Tooley was close behind with a toss of 41-05.25, followed by fellow juniors Jessica Lipstraw (41-02.25), Laura Derov (34-05.25) and Rachel Flad (28-00.75).
The Findlay Indoor Classic will get back underway tomorrow, January 31, with events scheduled to resume at 10:00 a.m.
