DEFIANCE, Ohio – Brad Zarembski is set to represent Defiance College at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships this Saturday, May 23, marking the fourth consecutive season that a DC athlete has competed in the national event.
Zarembski comes into the meet ranked ninth in the high jump, after clearing 6-08.75 earlier this season at the Polar Bear Invitational. The junior will look to continue the success he has had in big meets this year, where he won his third-straight HCAC high jump crown while also earning All-Ohio honors at both the indoor and outdoor championships.
The NCAA Championships will mark the final time that Zarembski will don a Defiance jersey, as he completed his degree in three years and graduated from DC earlier this month. He plans to continue his athletic career at Long Beach State, where he will pursue a master's of business administration.
"Brad has been a great asset to our program," said head coach John Hartpence. "He has been one of the best students as well as athletes at Defiance, earning multiple conference and national academic honors while also provisionally qualifying for the national meet five times in his career."
The Toledo, Ohio native will look to receive All-American honors for the second time in his career with a top-eight finish and become the Defiance track and field team's 13th All-American on Saturday morning, as the high jump is set to get underway at 11:30 a.m.
