Zarembski Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America
DEFIANCE, Ohio – Brad Zarembski has been named ESPN The Magazine Second-Team Academic All-America. The honor is voted on and announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – Brad Zarembski has been named ESPN The Magazine Second-Team Academic All-America. The honor is voted on and announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The award comes on the heels of Zarembski being named First-Team Academic All-District IV for the second-straight year and follows his Third-Team Academic All-America honor from one year ago. Zarembski also boasts a pair of USTFCCCA Division III Academic All-American accolades and possesses a 3.89 GPA in business administration.
Zarembski has been equally impressive on the track during his three-year career at Defiance College. The Toledo, Ohio, native finished 11th in the high jump competition at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor National Championships and earned NCAA All-American honors in 2007. The junior has provisionally qualified for the NCAA Nationals in each of his three outdoor seasons and two of his indoor campaigns. Zarembski is also a three-time Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference champion in the high jump and a two-time All-Ohio Champion.
The award recognizes student-athletes for outstanding achievements in the classroom as well as on the field of competition. In order to be eligible for this award, the athlete must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have reached sophomore status or higher academically, participate in over half of the team's events and play a key role in those contests.
