Singles Sweep Propels Men's Tennis to Season's First Win
DEFIANCE, OHIO - The Defiance College men's tennis team resumed action on Tuesday afternoon against Ohio Christian University. The Yellow Jackets hosted the Trailblazers and came away with a 6-1 victory, marking the first win of the 2019 campaign.

A sweep of singles action assisted Head Coach Gonzalo Vivas' side to the season's first victory. Ethan Harris (Huntertown, Ind. / Carroll) improved to 3-3 on his freshman season with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
On the number two court, Jared Schnee (Bellevue / Bellevue) pulled away with a 6-2, 6-2 win. Ring Lardner (Milford, Del. / Milford) followed up with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of his OC opponent.
Micaiah Cox (Ft. Recovery / Ft. Recovery) grabbed his first singles win of the year 6-2, 6-4.
Seth Mangas wrapped up the singles action with a thriller in the number five slot. After falling 6-3 in the first set, Mangas retaliated with a 6-4 second set. In a decisive third set, Mangas and his OC opponent needed an intense 11-9 tiebreaker to determine the winner.
In doubles play, Schnee and Harris combined for the first DC doubles win of the season, an 8-2 result.
The Yellow Jackets improve to 1-5 on the season with the victory. Defiance will return to action Tuesday, March 26, as they host Olivet at 4:00 pm for the final nonconference battle of the season.
