Purple and Gold Drops Match to Cougars

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men's tennis team was defeated 7-2 this evening, falling to the University of Saint Francis in Defiance, Ohio.

In doubles play, DC was swept in all three flights. At first doubles, Adam Swisher and Jared Schnee fell 8-5 while Nathan Principe and Eline Widman were defeated 8-4. Micaiah Cox and Henry Brown dropped their match at third doubles 8-4.

At first singles, Swisher completed the first of two wins for the Purple and Gold, winning 6-3, 6-4. Schnee fell 6-1, 6-1 at second singles as Widman collected the second DC victory at third singles, winning 6-2, 7-6 (7-5 tiebreak). Principe fell at fourth singles 6-0, 6-0 and Ring Lardner was rolled 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5. Brown wrapped up the singles flight with a 6-3, 6-0 loss at sixth singles.

The Yellow Jackets continue their home stint of games as they host Shawnee State on Saturday, March 24 at the Smart Center. First serve 10:00 AM.
