DC Falls 9-0 to Thomas More College
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men's tennis team suffered a tough loss this afternoon as they fell 9-0 to Thomas More College at the George M. Smart Center.
TMC made a clean sweep of the doubles flights, taking all three sets. Adam Swisher and Eline Widman were narrowly defeated 9-7 at first doubles while tandem Nathan Principe and Jared Schnee fell 8-4 at No. 2. Duo Micaiah Cox and Henry Brown were trumped 8-0 at third doubles.
The Saints continued their charge, winning all six singles sets as well. Swisher put up a fight at first singles, falling 6-4 before winning 3-6 then ultimately dropping the set 6-2. At No. 2 singles, Schnee was rolled 6-1, 6-0 while Widman was capped 6-1, 6-4 at third singles. Principe would not fall quietly at fourth singles as he dropped the first set 6-1 but would come back to take a victory in the second set 2-6. He would eventually go on to fall 6-1. Brown and Ring Larder would both fall at fifth and sixth singles, 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-3 respectively.
The Yellow Jackets look to bounce back on Tuesday, February 27 as they host Alma College at 1:00 PM in Defiance, Ohio.
