DeMeo Named HCAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
GREENWOOD, IND. -- Defiance College senior men's tennis player James DeMeo (Oregon/Clay) has been named this week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
GREENWOOD, IND. -- Defiance College senior men's tennis player James DeMeo (Oregon/Clay) has been named this week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
DeMeo won all four of his singles matches this past week, including three victories coming in straight sets and by pro-set. He helped lead the Yellow Jackets to a third-place finish at the Beren Invitational hosted by Marietta College over the weekend where their only loss was to eventual event champion Thomas (Ky.) More College by a final of 5-4.
In addition, DeMeo teamed up with junior Adam Swisher (Bedford, Mich./Bedford) at first doubles and posted a 3-1 record for the week.
For the season, DeMeo is 10-2 in singles matches and has won eight straight and nine of his last 10 matchups. He currently is 9-2 at first singles and 1-0 at second singles. In doubles action, he has a combined 9-3 record (all at first doubles).
Defiance is scheduled to compete against Mount St. Joseph University on Saturday, Apr. 8 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener in Cincinnati, Ohio. The match is slated to begin at noon.
