Men's Tennis Falls in Spring Break Finale

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Defiance College men's tennis team ended their spring break trip with a 9-0 loss to Eastern Nazarene (Pa.) University in Hilton Head, S.C.
The Lions (6-2) took an early 3-0 advantage over the Yellow Jackets (3-5) by sweeping all three doubles matches. The third double team of senior Ricardo Girona (McClure/Otsego) and junior Daniel Fabelo (Hamilton/Badin) had the closest match at the third doubles spot with a match score of 9-8.
In singles play, despite close efforts, Eastern won all six singles slots to finalize the match score in favor of the Lions, 9-0. Junior James Demeo (Oregon/Clay) and Fabelo both forced their opponent to a third-set decision but eventually fell overall.
The Yellow Jackets will look to get back on the winning track when they host Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Mount St. Joseph University on Friday, Mar. 18. The start time has yet to be decided.
