HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Defiance College men’s tennis team lost their first match of the spring break trip to Roosevelt (Ill.) University by a final match score of 9-0.
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Defiance College men's tennis team lost their first match of the spring break trip to Roosevelt (Ill.) University by a final match score of 9-0.
Roosevelt (6-0) took the early 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles play from Defiance (2-2). The second doubles team of junior Tory Savage (Bryan) and sophomore Eline Widman (Tiffin/Tiffin Columbian) had the closest doubles match for the afternoon by working their opponent to an 8-3 loss.
In singles play, the DC men were defeated in all six spots to finalize the match score in favor of the Lakers. Junior James Demeo (Oregon/Clay) and Widman forced their opponents to a third-set decision, but eventually fell to their Roosevelt opponent.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action tomorrow (Mar. 7) in Hilton, Head, S.C. against Lawrence (Mich.) Tech. The match time is yet to be announced.
