Men's Tennis Defeated by Lawrence (Mich.) Tech

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The Defiance College men's tennis team was defeated by Lawrence (Mich.) Technical University, 8-1, as part of the Spring Tennis Fest in Hilton Head, S.C. The match was played on clay courts for the first time during the season at the Van De Meer clay tennis courts.
The third doubles team of sophomore Tory Savage (Bryan) and Eline Widman (Tiffin/Columbian) secured the only point for Defiance (3-2). The duo managed to come from behind in their first match as partners to win 8-6.
Sophomore James DeMeo (Oregon/Clay) and freshman Adam Swisher (Bedford, Mich. /Bedford) gave a valiant effort at second doubles. The tandem pushed their opposition to the limit at a score of 9-8 (10-8) before falling in the hard-fought loss.
DC will continue action on Thursday, Mar. 12 in a rematch against Thomas More (Ky.) College. The Yellow Jackets swept the Saints in their previous meeting inside the George M. Smart Athletic Center on March 28. The rematch is set to begin at 6 p.m.
