Ault Sets Record as DC Dominates Beavers
BLUFFTON, Ohio – Senior number one singles and doubles player Trevor Ault became the winningest player in Yellow Jacket history on Thursday afternoon with wins in singles and doubles against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Bluffton University.
BLUFFTON, Ohio – Senior number one singles and doubles player Trevor Ault became the winningest player in Yellow Jacket history on Thursday afternoon with wins in singles and doubles against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Bluffton University. Defiance blanked the Beavers by a score of 9-0.
Ault teamed up with freshman Ryan Nelson in doubles to break the all-time mark with career win number 103. The mark was previously held by Tyler Ault, Trevor's older brother.
DC was also victorious at the numbers two and three doubles positions, as Craig Bills and Cord Speelman won at the two spot with a score of 8-3, and Austin Gray and Justin Walker won a close 8-6 match. The win by Gray and Walker move the duo's winning streak to six matches.
Just as in doubles, Defiance handled the Beavers in singles action. The Jackets won all six positions in straight sets, and no DC player lost more than eight games total in the six matches. Ault, Nelson and Walker each dropped only two games total in their victories by recording scores of 6-1, 6-1. Other victors for the Purple and Gold were Gray, Bills and Speelman.
The win now gives DC seven victories on the season and three in HCAC play. The Jackets play their final match of the season on Saturday, April 28 at HCAC foe Hanover College. The match is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
