DC Tennis Defeated by Rose-Hulman in HCAC Match
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Yellow Jackets’ men’s tennis team traveled to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology for a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference clash on Saturday morning.
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Yellow Jackets' men's tennis team traveled to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology for a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference clash on Saturday morning. Defiance was defeated by a score of 8-1.
The match began with doubles play and the Jackets were unable to pick up a win in any of the three doubles matches. The closest match for DC was at the number two position, as junior Craig Bills and sophomore Craig Speelman came up just short losing by a score of 8-6.
The Purple and Gold managed to win one of the six singles spots. Freshman Ryan Nelson was the victor for Defiance at four singles as the freshman won the first set 6-3, dropped the second 5-7 and won the super tiebreaker that served as the third set. With the win, Nelson improved his singles record to a team best 11-5, and the freshman's HCAC record is now at 2-2.
The Yellow Jackets return home for a non-conference match against Bethel College on Tuesday, April 10. The match is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
