Gray Leads Jackets in Loss to Elizabethtown
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Austin Gray picked up his second victory of the season at No. 3 singles, but it was not enough to get Defiance past Elizabethtown on Friday.
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Austin Gray picked up his second victory of the season at No. 3 singles, but it was not enough to get Defiance past Elizabethtown on Friday. The Jackets capped their time at the Hilton Head Classic with an 8-1 loss to the Blue Jays.
DC was swept in doubles play, with Gray and Mark Vandevender providing the closest contest in an 8-3 setback at the No. 2 competition. Gray then scored the only triumph for DC in singles action, with a victory over Bryan Metz at No. 3.
Defiance (1-7) will head back north and open league play when it hosts Hanover on March 19 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action. The match is set to begin at 11:00 am at DC's Dix Tennis Facility.
