Jackets Suffer First Home Defeat in Men’s Tennis
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The University of Findlay spoiled the final home contest of the 2010 season for the Defiance College men’s tennis team, as the NCAA Division II Oilers handed the Jackets an 8-1 setback for DC’s only home loss of the season.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The University of Findlay spoiled the final home contest of the 2010 season for the Defiance College men's tennis team, as the NCAA Division II Oilers handed the Jackets an 8-1 setback for DC's only home loss of the season.
Findlay took control early, with a sweep of the doubles matches for the 3-0 advantage entering the singles competitions. UF then continued its winning ways, taking five of the six contests to complete the 8-1 victory.
Tyler Ault scored DC's only victory by winning, 6-3, 6-4, over Dawid Hebda at No. 2 singles. The victory was Ault's 99th collegiate win at Defiance with the inclusion of six fall-season victories.
The home match was the final in the careers of Ault and graduating junior, Austin Kleman, as the duo played in front of a home crown for the final time.
DC (7-10, 5-2 HCAC) will be back in action on April 28, when it plays its final match of the regular season at Huntington, beginning at 4:00 pm.
